Extended Description Of Website Management*
The organization’s website is a WordPress-based site. Management of the site is shared among, at least, three (3) key positions:
Web Host Account Administrator: Primary contact with domain host regarding website server location, site content and MySQL database backups and requests technical support as needed; requests/issues FTP (SFTP) account access for Website Admin-ers. Since 2013, the website has been hosted by Dreamhost.com.
Website Admin(istrator): Develop/manage/maintain a WordPress-based website including public Posts, Pages, media, etc. and secure areas/features (Classified Ads and Forums) within a Members-only Zone (MoZ); research “theme” updates as they are released and determine if update is necessary; research/install/update WP-based plug-ins deemed necessary for overall website functionality; perform periodic off-site backups of website directory using SFTP client; update site content (public & secure areas) with posts/pages about relevant meetings/activities, Apple-related news or/and other content that may or may not be provided or requested by the Executive Board; compose/send electronic correspondence regarding advertising; cross-post website content to organization’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc); provide orientation to site Editors & monitor work efforts; establish and manage members-only online surveys/voting systems and report results to Executive Board; and, provide periodic reports to Executive Board with respect to website traffic/activity.
Members-only Zone (MoZ) Support: Manage website-based membership database which is slated to replace a Filemaker Pro (FMP) membership database; compose/send website-based electronic correspondence to new/re-joined members with user log in credentials (username and passwords); respond to requests for technical support from users with MoZ credentials having issues with updating their online member profiles; and, provide periodic reports with respect to MoZ activity and cross-compare with General List-Serve subscribers.
Editors: Assist with updates to site content with Posts/Pages about relevant meetings/activities, Apple-related news or/and other content that may or may not be provided or requested by the Executive Board or Website Admin.
